Soft Tissue Therapy

Paula in blue polo shirt

Bodymobile provides sports massage and soft tissue therapy with friendly and knowledgeable support for all.

The amazing movement of the body and a love of anatomy has inspired me to study many methods of massage and soft tissue therapies and develop a specific approach to treatment based on reducing tension and building better movement patterns to achieve the best performance for each client.

I use techniques from Sports massage, Thai yoga massage and myofascial techniques including Barral Institute visceral and neuro-meningeal manipulation to ease the body into unwinding tensions stuck in the fascia that connecting everything. As an avid Pilates follower, I encourage clients to keep the benefits of treatment by moving and provide exercises as part of treatment programmes where needed.

I have a special interest in hypermobility, digestive dysfunctions, jaw dysfunctions like TMJ, woman’s health, whiplash and scar tissue rehabilitation.

Sports massage for athletes getting ready for a specific race or game is a great honour and passion whatever the level. I have worked with many types of sports person from first time marathon runners to competitive triathletes to Premiership football players. In 2012 I worked at the Paralympic training camp with teams from Morocco, Tunisia, Angola, Ivory Coast and in 2014 with world best diving teams at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Sharing knowledge and experience is vital for my client focused approach. I am experienced in working with and collaborating with other modalities like osteopaths, physios, dentists and functional GPs, acupuncturists and nutritionists to create the best treatment plan for a client.

Book directly with me or book online via the venue websites. I have clinics in Shaftesbury, Wimborne and Dorchester in Dorset. I also consult in London in Mill Hill and Bounds Green.

Sports Massage

Used to treat a variety of post acute and chronic problems. Specialised loosening, stretching and strenghtening techniques such as MET, STR and NMT show good results when combined with general massage.

  • muscle pain
  • tennis and golfers elbow
  • hamstring injuries and tight calves
  • groin strains
  • twisted ankles
  • carpel tunnel symdrome
  • upper and lower cross syndrome
  • knee pain
  • patella tendonitis
  • frozen shoulder

Visceral Manipulation (VM)

Gentle myofascial manual therapy that relates to the internal organs of the body and aids your body's ability to release restrictions.

VM uses the rhythmic motions of the visceral system to evaluate how abnormal forces interplay with the structural integrity of the entire body and to re-establish the body's ability to adapt and restore itself to health.

Common problems that can be helped are:

  • muscular stiffness and tension in the lower back, neck and shoulders
  • whiplash and headaches
  • breathing disorders
  • abdominal/digestive dysfunction
  • postural problems

Neural Manipulation (NM)

A branch of VM developed by French Osteopaths, Jean-Pierre Barral and Alain Croibier. NM is a gentle hands-on therapy that creates movement and freedom within the nervous system resolving global patterns.

Problems it can help:

  • chronic body ache patterns
  • scoliosis
  • facial and jaw ache
  • whiplash and headaches
  • nerve pain such as sciatica
  • Morton's Neuroma

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is a wonderful, relaxing treatment combining acupressure on ten Sen lines over the body, yoga style stretches and breathing work.

The treatment helps to loosen tight muscles, relax the mind and balance emotional tensions. It is a 1½-2 hour treatment applied over loose clothing and on a soft mat on the floor. We start off on the feet and finish on the top of your head.

What a great gift voucher idea!

Problems it can help:

  • muscular stiffness and tension in the lower back, neck and shoulders
  • hamstring injuries and tight calves
  • repetitive strain injuries
  • postural problems

Relaxing Massage

Long hours, inactivity and travelling can drain your body and mind.

All the therapies I practice can improve your well being, but for a pamper session try Swedish deep tissue massage with blended aromatherapy oils. I use premixed aromatherapy oils which can calm, energise and uplift you through their various properties.

Eat something light before a treatment, drink a glass of water after a treatment and rest for at least a half hour for best results.

Problems it can help::

  • stress
  • tired mind, body or soul!

Pregnancy & Mothers

Please note: Always consult your doctor before having massage.

It's a special time and with so many changes taking place in your body and your emotions, taking care of yourself should be the number one thing to do on your list.

In case you are wondering, during pregnancy treatments are carried out with you sitting or lying on your side!

I aim to help take care of you through each trimester to prepare your body and to support all the changes to body shape and weight. Hormonal changes mean loose and supple ligaments so we also include basic pelvic care and stability work.
